Angelina Hermon is a seasoned development professional with over 25 years of experience in the development sector in Sri Lanka with short stints in Afghanistan and Australia. For the last 13 years Angelina worked with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) where she led USAID’s initiatives both in Sri Lanka and Maldives focused on legislative strengthening, elections and political processes, civil society strengthening, governance and anti-corruption, human rights, youth and women’s empowerment, and countering violent extremism. At USAID, she served as a Project Management Specialists under the Office of Governance and Vulnerable Populations, and transitioned as the Deputy Director of the same office, and as the Acting Director for a shorter period prior to the closure of USAID. Prior to USAID she served as a Child Protection Specialist with Save the Children and worked as a consultant and trainer in Afghanistan and Australia. Angelina holds a Master’s in Social Work (Qualifying) from the University of Queensland, Australia, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the Open University of Sri Lanka.
